"Unwanted Serbs" list appears in Kosovo town

FoNet news agency, Belgrade, 02:28 July 09

KOSOVSKA KAMENICA -- Friday - Lists naming 32 Serbs from Kosovska Mitrovica as "unwanted" were again posted around the town of Kosovska Kamenica overnight.

The lists first appeared at eight locations the previous night and were removed, only to reappear at new sites.

The four A4 sheets list eminent Serbs from the municipality, including the former council president, the former head of the municipality and the former director of the Cultural Centre.

Many of the Serbs named live in Kosovska Kamenica.

Both Serbs and Albanians have reacted against the list, which has also been read at a concert in the Cultural Centre. Police in the town say they know about the lists but had not seen them.

Local Serbs have accused local and international authorities of having done nothing to remove the lists or find those responsible for posting them.
