Kosovo Serb man from Silovo commits suicide

Kosovo Serb Jova Mitic from Silovo near Gnjilane committed suicide in his family home, Kosovo Police Service spokesman Veton Elshani told Tanjug news agency.

He [said] that police in Gnjilane received information last night regarding a man who hanged himself in Silovo, and found the lifeless body of the Kosovo Serb man in the village primary medical facility, where he was brought by his family. Police and forensic experts conducted an investigation; the body was subsequently forwarded for autopsy to the Medical Institute in Pristina in accordance with an order from the public prosecutor, said Elshani.

He added that a police investigative unit is examining the motive for the suicide. This is the second suicide among Kosovo Serbs in the last ten days.

Last month a Kosovo Serb man hanged himself in the police station in northern Mitrovica.

According to data provided to Tanjug by regional UNMIK police spokesman Larry Miller 11 people committed suicide last year on the territory of the district of Kosovska Mitrovica.
